I'm not quite sure what compelled me to go to this grave. This is the finally resting place of a man with the last name Bartlett and he was killed at the Battle of the Wilderness (during the American Civil War.) This tombstone can be found at the Kinyon Cemetary in Canton, Michigan (which is where the photo was taken.)
Brief description of the battle-The battle took place in Spotsylvania County from May 5, 1864 until May 7, 1864. Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and Maj. Gen. George G. Meade (US); Gen. Robert E. Lee (Con) were the main commanders of the battle. In the end, the battle was inconclusive and more than 29,000 men were killed. For more info on this battle than my lousy attempt to summerize it, please visit this site-[link] |

I cried when I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet, and then I laughed really hard.
